Starting positions: Hamstring II: Stand behind chair, feet about one foot from chair, spine flexed, hands on pedals. Kneeling Cat: High kneeling on chair, knees near front edge. Breathing: Inhale prepare; exhale contract deep abdominals, press pedals to floor; inhale return, legs still. Imagery: Spine like a cat arching its back when startled.

【Direct】Hamstring II: Exhale to recruit deep abdominals and press the pedal toward the floor, keeping the thighs and torso parallel to the ground at the lowest point. Maintain spinal length through axial elongation of the crown. Kneeling Cat: Initiate a head nod and articulate down through the thoracic and lumbar spine, keeping hips and knees vertical over the floor. On inhale, feel the spine restack segmentally back to an upright position. 【Indirect】Pearl Necklace (Hamstring II): Imagine your spine as a string of pearls unfolding one by one during the descent. Startled Cat (Kneeling Cat): Imagine you are a frightened cat, arching the center of your back toward the ceiling against gravity. Wave and Serpent (Kneeling Cat): The spinal movement should be as fluid as a wave or a swimming snake, full of organic vitality. 【Space】Entering Vast Space (Hamstring II): As you move downward, imagine entering a larger dimension rather than compressing yourself. Filling the Void (Kneeling Cat): Imagine your back arching into the space behind you, filling the entire negative space to create a maximal curve. Opposite Poles (Kneeling Cat): Feel the crown and tailbone extending infinitely in opposite directions, creating maximum internal space. 【Feeling】Peeling Velcro (Tactile): During spinal articulation, feel the vertebrae 'peeling' away like Velcro or off memory foam with a crisp, rhythmic feedback. Heavy Syrup Damping (Kinesthetic): While pressing the pedal, feel the air as viscous as heavy syrup, requiring a uniform and deep force to 'push through.' Hinging at one spinal segment; shoulder shrugging; losing spinal flexion; hips sitting back.

Acute lumbar disc herniation; inability to kneel (for kneeling version).
